What do we mean by "new ecological imaginaries"? How can we build a world that is more respectful of life? How can we break free from the habits inherited from a world whose codes we must unlearn in order to reinvent a desirable future? Faced with the headlong rush of our civilisations, how can we inspire citizens to take action? The power of collective narratives and shared emotions may be one of the keys to meeting this challenge. Imagination is a powerful tool for changing mindsets towards a new way of living together, respecting planetary boundaries and social justice.

Musical performance Les Résistances poétiques
(acoustic version) by Cyril Dion and Sébastien Hoog First performed on stage in 2019, this album project is in the tradition of rock poetry by Patti Smith,
Jim Morrison, or closer to home, Kae Tempest.
Consumer society, urban loneliness, ecological disaster, but also and above all the beauty of the world, the power of ideals and the necessary struggle for life.

The musical palette is rich in multiple colours (hypnotic, rough, caressing, dreamy...) and draws on sounds that are sometimes synthetic, sometimes organic, echoing the tension in the lyrics between fascination with technology and a longing for a return to nature.

To rethink the world and the relationship between humans and nature, artists, cultural actors and defenders of the living world are joining forces to raise public awareness through emotion and wonder. With a direct connection to the marine world, some have chosen to showcase the beauty of the ocean to inspire a desire to protect it, while others have turned to science to develop a model of artistic creation that benefits the ocean. But environmental issues also concern cultural actors who take up these questions, integrate them into new approaches and work to reinvent, through contemporary art and the vision of artists, an inspiring language in tune with today's world.

ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE

Preview screening of the documentary SEA ART on Jérémy Gobé (25 minutes), directed by Maud Baignères and co-produced by Time for the Ocean and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

In 2019, Time for the Ocean launched the SEA ART artistic documentary series to raise awareness among a wide audience about protecting and preserving the ocean through the prism of art. Each episode features a portrait of an artist and explores different fields (contemporary art, dance, music, cinema, photography, literature, etc.). These artists immerse us in their world and tell us how the ocean inspires them to create.

Let's take the time to listen to and learn from a committed young generation that has chosen action and determination in the face of the climate emergency. There are as many ways to get involved as there are personalities, and everyone, according to their own sensibilities, can contribute to positive change. This diversity is all the more evident among younger generations, who reject pre-established labels and mix genres and disciplines to offer new forms of mediation and discourse with strong emotional potential. As activists for the respect of our planet, inspiring personalities from a variety of backgrounds and experiences will share their hopes and their struggle to take action for the world of tomorrow.

ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE

Artistic performance by slam poet Féris Barkat An artistic and cultural practice, slam is an urban form of oratory whose aim is to bring words to life.

Through a poetic, rhythmic text, it allows emotions to be shared and messages to be conveyed. Féris Barkat has made this his signature, becoming known as an activist through his TikTok videos and socially conscious slam poetry. His poem Belle au bois brûlant (Sleeping Beauty in the Burning Forest) won him second prize in the À voix haute pour la biodiversité (Speaking Out for Biodiversity) competition. Thanks to his mastery of the art of speech, he manages to give a voice to the climate and biodiversity.

Literature occupies a prominent place among the strategies being implemented to rethink our relationship with living beings. As the question of cohabitation and living together becomes central, numerous initiatives are working to create the conditions for a new dialogue: editorial collections are dedicated to the preservation of living beings, writers are taking up residencies with scientists, and researchers are revealing the secrets of nature and its invisible languages. Questioning the links between environmental awareness and literary aesthetics is not just a matter of analysing stories that could be described as "ecological", but rather of considering the power of commitment that writing as such inspires to change ecological thinking.

ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE

Live reading of an excerpt from Héliosphéra, fille des abysses, d’amour et de plancton (Héliosphéra, daughter of the abyss, of love and plankton) by its author, Wilfried N'Sondé.

This story was born from the writer's experience aboard the legendary schooner Tara. Rocked by the vagaries of navigation and fuelled by the knowledge of scientists, Wilfried N'Sondé has written a novel of unprecedented style in which tiny heroes dare to embark on extravagant symbiotic fusions and demonstrate that the most different beings can find common ground.
