Slam poet, columnist, climate influencer, co-founder of Banlieues Climat
Féris Barkat, 21, studied politics and philosophy at the London School of Economics. He decided to stop studying to educate his generation about climate issues, particularly on TikTok, on the radio and in working-class neighbourhoods. Co-founder of Banlieues Climat, he seeks to promote an ‘emancipatory ecology’ in working-class neighbourhoods. Winner of the ‘À voix haute pour la Biodiversité’ award, he also gives lectures and, as part of the CNR Jeunesse (French national youth council), makes recommendations to the Prime Minister on adapting and training for climate issues. He was recently named one of the 30under30 ecologists to watch by Usbek&Rica/NOWU.
