Artist
Laure Prouvost lives and works in Molenbeek. In 2014, the NMNM presented her installation Wantee during the exhibition "Portraits d'intérieurs" and in 2021, on the occasion of the exhibition "Tremblements", Since he's gone, weaved by Grand Ma, a video tapestry that is part of the museum's collections. In 2022, she presented Habiter, nager, léviter, médurer, a performed discussion on the terrace of the Villa Paloma with Mathilde Roman. In her work, which intertwines narratives and challenges the viewer, she performs with her body and her voice, provoking feelings of intimacy and closeness that defy physical distance. In her stories, languages connect, form new meanings and project imaginaries inspired by the contexts of the exhibitions as well as the personal fictions she unfolds over time.
Laure Prouvost is notably the winner of the Turner Prize in 2013. She represented France at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. Her works are present in numerous public and private collections such as the MHKA Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp, Belgium; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C., United States; the De Pont Museum, Tilburg, Netherlands; the Louis Vuitton Foundation, Paris, France; the Lucerne Art Gallery, Switzerland; the Arts Council of England, London, Great Britain; and the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco.
