Champion in big wave surfing
Sebastian Steudtner is a German big-wave surfer, entrepreneur, and ocean innovator known for pushing the limits of surfing. He gained global recognition at Nazaré, Portugal, one of the world’s most powerful wave locations.
In 2020, he set a World Record by surfing a 26.21-meter wave. Beyond performance, he advances scientific understanding of extreme waves through his initiative MissionWaveAlpha, which uses drone technology and data systems. In 2024, this led to the measurement of a 28.57-meter wave he successfully rode.
In 2025, he founded the WaveXplorer Foundation to explore ocean and wave energy and their broader impact. Through WirMachenWelle, he also promotes ocean education, inspiring young people, building confidence, and raising awareness for ocean conservation.
