Philosophy and ecology: a question of "desire"

Inspiration

From Wednesday 24 to Sunday 28 June, the 2026 edition of PhiloMonaco Week will be held on the theme of Desire, a concept that has become central to ecological thinking with the aim of uniting citizens around desirable futures for a fairer and more sustainable world - a dynamic at the heart of the Green Shift initiative of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, partner of PhiloMonaco Week.

Among the many discussions offered by Les Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco on the occasion of the event, we can mention the morning session at the market "Want, Desire, Need" (Wednesday, June 24) and the conference "Desire to Have" (Thursday, June 25), the philosophical luncheon "Desires for Justice" (Friday, June 26) or the topic "Desire for Adventure" (Sunday, June 28), which will evoke the link between man and nature through questions of consumption, environmental justice, and exploration of great spaces.

For this final segment, Pierre Casiraghi, passionate skipper and accomplished sailor, co-founder of the Team Malizia racing team, whose educational activities have been supported by the Prince Albert II Foundation for many years, will speak at the Yacht Club of Monaco alongside Stéphane Habib, psychoanalyst and philosopher, and Bruce Bégout, writer and philosopher.
