Influencers, new players in the green movement
In 2024 and 2025, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation was a partner in the "Declic Influence" project, run by the citizens' movement On est Prêt, which supports content creators on the path to ecological commitment through residencies, workshops and training courses.
The initiative stems from an intuition by the association's president Magali Payen, which has since become a prescription for scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), who noted in ther 2022b report :
Social influencers can increase the adoption of low-carbon technologies, behaviours and lifestyle
Combining talks by experts, fun experiments, collective intelligence and emotional encounters, the "Declic Influence" programme is multiplying events to raise awareness on environmental issues in an original way among influencers who have little or no previous involvement, and thus accelerate the ecological and social mobilisation of their communities.
As part of this partnership, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has joined forces with On est Prêt for a series of residencies on issues linked to its missions :
The Mountain residency, which took place from 12 to 15 September 2024 in Chamonix, bringing together 9 influencers representing a total community of over 10 million followers around two glaciologists and inspirational personalities. A close-to-nature approach to raising awareness of the impact of climate change on the mountains and the essential role of glaiers in the water cycle, but also to talk about sobriety as a solution for preserving the balance of ecosystems.
The #Climate Call evening, organised on 22 October 2024, where more than thirty content creators (with a combined total of 33 million followers) were invited to take part in a unique and entertaining experience to raise awareness on the concept of planet boundaries.
The Ocean residency, which took place from 25 to 27 April 2025 as a prelude to the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice in mid-June. During the residency, young influencers boarded the schooner Tara and headed for the Port-Cros National Park for 2 days of workshops and meetings aimed at gaining a better understanding of the environmental issues surrounding ocean ecosystems.
