3rd Tides of Change Roundtable during New York Climate Week
Fashion
In collaboration with Fashioning for Social & Environmental Justice, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation organized last September during Climate Week 2025 in New York, the third edition of its series of Tides of Change gatherings dedicated to sustainable fashion.
Within the framework of the Foundation’s Green Shift Initiative, the event entitled “Riding the Tides of Change: A Forward-Thinking Experience to Shape the Future of Fashion” invited participants on a forward-looking journey into the heart of tomorrow’s fashion. From a deeper understanding of the industry’s impact on ecosystems and communities to the identification of innovative solutions, the assembly explored how we can transform fashion into a truly sustainable and ethical model.
The roundtable brought together around sixty industry professionals with students in art, fashion, design, and cultural management from the Pratt Institute and Berkeley College, whose perspectives and enthusiasm greatly enriched the talks.
Moderated by Kerry Bannigan, President of the PVBLIC Foundation and Co-Founder of the UN Fashion & Lifestyle Network, a first discussion featured Runa Ray, designer and founder of Fashioning for Social & Environmental Justice; Vanessa Barboni Hallik, Co-CEO of Another Tomorrow; and Célia Roussin, founder of the startup Pépite Raisin. Together, they addressed the urgent need to build a new paradigm for the fashion industry, embedding sustainability and ethics at the very core of design and production processes.
A series of collaborative workshops followed, enabling participants to explore practical solutions to accelerate the transition — such as innovative eco-design, circularity, traceability, new materials and alternative fibres, emerging technologies and AI, as well as knowledge transmission, community empowerment, and rise of inspiring storytelling and narratives within the next generation.
The event concluded with engaging and optimistic closing remarks by Nicole Rycroft, founder of Canopy, an international organization dedicated to transforming unsustainable supply chains while advancing forest conservation and community rights.
This third edition also marked a significant milestone for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation’s Green Shift Initiative which joined the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network (UNFLN) — a global platform fostering sustainability, innovation, transparency, and collaboration across the fashion and lifestyle sectors.
